The area outlined in red in the next image is your play window. Right click your
game window near where the ‘X’ is
in this screenshot:

2. Your character will move to the right- clicked location. Move around a bit to practice and then come back to the location marked here:

3. To walk to another character in the room that you can not see
Press the F2 key to bring up a list names of characters in the room (also useful, to keep tabs on who is coming and going from the room).
Click on the name of the character you want to walk towards, and click on Close to close the window.
Doing this will show you a guide to where the person is standing.
