The basic idea of this system is to give players something
to work for. Usually, ladders are always a good motivation and being better than
others is a goal for many people. In Hell we have the hell score which is
loosely based on fights or NPC kill. In London we don't want to enforce PvP
fights so this social system is a good alternative.
The system assigns points for certain actions that increase a persons social
ranking and withdraw points for actions that decrease it in the eyes of the
public. Some points can be gathered every day from static variables of the
characters, others must be adjusted continuously since they can not be restored
from the current variables of the character but are a trace of his actions. For
the user this is mostly indistinguishable, but it may help to know this division
The final moral value is on a + / - scale that is open towards both ends.
Characters can move their value in both directions and change it every day.
There are two different social ranking systems, one called London's Society, the
other called Underworld. The society ladder is oriented on High Morality
behavior, the underworld is oriented on Low Morality behavior. Neither of them
will favor interactions with demons though. Demons are considered evil by both
sides and the demons will have to serve their own agenda. However cult
activities of the respective cult are, if not favored, at least tolerated, so as
long as the word can't get out, cult activities will mostly be disregarded, but
if observed By members of the opposite ranking system. they lower the
reputation.
The two systems are kept parallel, which means that every character maintains
his social ranking score for both systems independently and he is considered to
be part of that system in which he has the highest score. Whenever his score on
the other ranking system becomes higher than the score of the system where he
was in so far, he switches alignment and is now listed in the other system.
Example: A character has 10 Society scores and 5 Underground scores, so he is
listed as a member of the Society. The next day, his Society score falls to 4
while the Underground score remains at 5 so now he is listed as a member of the
Underground.
The Primeminister is favored by the Society system. The Underground
society, if we can call it that, is not the “official” ranking system of London
since it has somewhat of a criminal nimbus, so only a member of the Society can
become Primeminister. However all other office can be held by anybody.
A district's moral alignment determine what social system it favors. Districts of low morality will favor characters who are on the Underground Ranking, districts of high morality will favor characters who are Society members.
Many social scores are only given when another PC is present. For example the punishment for nude characters is awarded only if the nude character enters a room with another PC present. For cult related scores, the character present must be on the opposing social ranking system, for example if you have a demon with you and you are an Underground member it is assumed that another person of the Underground would not tell on you, a member of London's Society however would. Also, it is often so that YOU must enter a room a room with another PC present. When another PC enters a room with you present nothing happens. This is a bit inconsequent but since it only negative score that is handed out here, it is reasonable to give it when you run around and protect you somewhat from negative score form lots of other characters entering the room.
Scores that are recalculated every day:
The idea here is simply to use (LOG10(money) – 3) on a
characters money to calculate points from money. For example the following
monetary values would result in the respective points
10,000 = 1
100,000 = 2
1,000,000 = 3
10,000,000 = 4
100,000,000 = 5
6 is the highest score you can get from your money, any more money is
disregarded.
Add 0.5 points for each of the following skills which is at level 4:
Blacksmith
Electronics
Tailor
Chef
Carpenter
Brewer
Tanner
Glassblower
Prospector
Gardener
Observation
Resistance
Add 1 point for each of the following skills at level 4:
Goldsmith
Biochemistry
Medicine
Oratory
Loose 1 point for each of the following skills at level 4:
Prostitution
Dancing
Submission
Dominance
Stealing
Fighting skills are left out here because they are neutral and are a necessity and don't represent a choice in life as much as the other skills do.
Gain 1 point if you own a newspaper and have published an article within the past week. And your newspaper is in the top 50% of the popularity list of newspaper. Only one article per week counts.
Loose 1 point if you have not published an article or your newspaper falls out of the top 50%
Gives 0.2 points per full point of valor above 9 and remove 0.2 points for every full point of valor under 9
If you have a property in a Low Morality district, loose 4
points, If you have property in a High Morality district, gain 4 points.
Title deeds
can be created by the Primeminister
and given to other characters. The first owner of the deed, other than the PM
becomes the only character who can accept the title. He does so by
double-clicking the title deed twice. The title will then appear in his name.
There are two female and two male titles for Society and Underground. Any
character can take any title of his gender be it Society or Underground.
Titles have certain privileges: taxes are cut in half, they also add 2 points
to the social rank. Titles can not be taken away, but will not be passed on to
an heir. If a character goes to hell, he looses the title of course. Titles are
also lost if the character is not logged in within a week.
A title of the opposing alignment will remove 4 points instead since it is a
very bad mark. Also, characters with a title can be KOed in a district of the
opposing alignment without an assault crime being created. Permakill still
applies and creates a murder crime.
Regardless of how many deeds the PM hands out, there can be only 50 characters
per social ranking system who actually hold a title. If the PM decides to sell
deeds, he can cheat characters by giving out deeds although there are no free
title slots anymore.
Being married to someone of higher social rank gains 25%
of the difference of the social scores
Being married to someone of lower social rank looses 50% of the difference of
the social scores
Being married to someone of the opposite alignment cost 3 points
Being beautiful in a sense is important in any social system. The Society recognizes the following values:

| Office | Holding This Period | Holding Last Period |
| Juror | +0.5 | +0.3 |
| Prosecutor | +1.0 | +0.5 |
| Judge | +2.0 | +1.0 |

created or an outstanding prison term for example by attacking a guard, he
looses 5 points immediately once
In addition a character looses 0.1 point for every day he spend in prison.
For every day he does not spend in prison and for which there is no warrant or
outstanding prison term, he gains back 0.2 points until the crime point balance
is 0 again
Certain social events are outstanding and being there
contributes to the social rank. The
Primeminister decides which events are declared
social ranking events.
Every character who is in that bar during this time for at least 30 minutes
gains 2 points. The points gained from these events are reduced by 0.1 every day
until they reach 0 again.
Only events in high moral districts count.
Gain 0.5 points for each child from a married partner
Loose 0.5 points for every child with a non married partner
Loose 1 point for every child while married to another partner or while the
partner is married to another partner
While it is possible for succubus cult members to be be part of society, this is generally frowned upon,
as a result the cult activities of succubus cult members can have a negative
influence. Inquisition cult activities, although not strictly legal, are ignored
by the Society side.
All of the following actions have a negative influence only when another
character is present who is of the underground Ranking System other than the
characters who are involved in the cult action, since we assume that the acting
characters will keep silent about the event. The negative points gathered from cult
related actions will move toward a balance of 0 at a speed of 0.1 points per
day.
Being in the same room where a succubus sperm drain action is performed as a non-participant looses 0.2 point
Being a direct participant in such an action looses 1 point
Loose 0.5 points if you sacrifice souls to a demon
Loose 0.1 point every time you are hired, when the customer has an orgasm, but only once per job.
Characters must be online in a public room for 30 minutes a day or loose 0.1 point. Being online in a public room at least 30 minutes gains 0.1 point up to a maximum of 0 points.
If a character hasn't logged in for 3 weeks or more, he looses 1 point per week. These points are reduced toward 0 again at a rate of 0.1 per day when the character is logged back in and not offline for more than 1 week.
Loose 0.5 points when entering a public room with another
character and the body is covered to less than 50%
Loose 1 point when entering a public room with another character and the genitals are
not 100% covered
Gain back 0.1 points each day where there was no loss of this category
The losses occur only once a day with the above figures. Each time a room is entered with the wrong clothing afterwards during this day is punished with 0.01 point only.
If a rumor about your character is published in a newspaper, loose 2 points. The negative rumor points are restored towards a balance of 0 every day at a rate of 0.1 points
Witchcraft is a bad thing and there can only come evil things from it. The public perception is accordingly and therefore only negative points can come from the undead. The demon related scores are moved towards a balance of 0 at a rate of 0.1 points per day.
Killing a succubus demon gives 2 points
Loose 0.5 points each time you are seen with an unmasked demon in London in the same room by another person and you are the summoner of that demon
The population is divided into 3 categories after they have been sorted according to their social scores. The top 5% are called the Celebrities, the next 45% are called the Citizens and the rest is the Scum.
Celebrities are eligible to become PM. The following consequences only apply in districts of High Morality:
There is a 50% chance that they get 2 additional “not guilty” votes in any trial against them, which would rise the number of jury votes from 5 to 7 with 2 voices “not-guilty” which means that instead of 3 guilty votes by PCs there must be 4 PCs voting guilty for a guilty verdict, but only if the trial is held in a district of high moral
Members of this class receive an additional 20% NPC votes in any election in a high morality district
When attacked anywhere in a high morality district by a PC there is a 25% chance that 1 NPC guard shows up and defend the character
When KOed in a low morality district, there is no assault crime generated
Citizens can run for Judge and there are the following benefits:
They receive a bonus of 10% NPC votes in any election in a high morality district
When attacked anywhere in a high morality district there is a 15% chance that 1 NPC guard shows up and defends the character.
Also there is a 10% chance for the same additional non-guilty votes as the Celebrity
Scums have no benefits.
