Stealing

Stealing is used in a variety of cases.

Pick pocketing

When a thief stands next to another character, he can select him and then click the Steal button in your Contact Tab. A character must have at least 1 stealing skill for this action to have any chance of success

Stealing From A House

A thief can breake into a house and steal items which are locked down or which are stored in a locker, but not from a vendotronic. In order to steal, a thief must have lock picks in his inventory and he must have turned the stealing skill on in his Skill Tab.

He can now attempt to unlock a door or unlock any lock or unlock a locked down item or access a locker just like the owner of the objects would. Each time he does so, his stealing skill and dexterity are checked and one lock pick is used up. In case of success, the lock is opened and the thief can enter the door or pick up the item.

To unlock a door, the thief must have at least skill 3 and to unlock items from the floor, skill 2 is required.

Depending on the observation skill of the victim there is a chance that a crime is generated against the thief. There is also a chance that a burglar alarm in the house goes off, depending on the thief's stealing skill.

Every day, only 5 items can be stolen from a house to prevent a thief from emptying a house completely, so it is possible that a thief enters a house and can not steal at all. In this case, it is likely that another thief has been there before on the same day.

Certain items can not be stolen at all. these items are:

ATTENTION: These items CAN be stolen if they are stacked. If you want to display one of these items in your house, make sure it is a single item and not a stack!

Smuggling Goods In And Out Of Prison

The prison area is restricted in terms of what character can bring in and out of it. Being a thief helps to smuggle goods in and out without the guards in the prison entrance room noticing it. If you want to take goods in or out and don't have stealing skills yourself, consider hiring a thief for this.

The following table gives an oversight over the minimum stealing skill for various actions:
