Quest System

The quest system is an automated system that creates mini quests within the game that can be solved by one character or a group of characters. the quest system contains an implicit party system that allows the characters on a quest to share XP and credit rewards. If items are given as rewards, its up to the participants to divide them up.

Quests start with a quest scroll that is dropped by NPCs. Quest scrolls are of different types and the type of the quest usually gives a hint as to what kind of character's should attempt to solve the quest. Some quests require different skills and therefore are predestined for characters to work together. Often a thief is required to unlock quest stones on the way. Quest stones are basically milestones that appear in a room that the quest character has to reach in a given time. When double-clicked, those stones give a hint about the location of the next milestone. Sometimes those stones are locked and must be unlocked by a thief. Sometimes the quest stones are invisible and a character with observation skill is necessary to find them. When double clicking the quest scroll, it will tell you if stealing or observation skill is required and what level.

In order to activate a questscroll, double click it twice within 5 seconds and it will become personalized to you. You will receive 6 quest shares which you can hand out to up to 6 other characters who will come with you on this quest. All XP and credits given by the quest is shared among those characters according to the number of quest shares they have, so the posession of one quest share will give the character 1/6 of the reward, if he has more shares, he will get more reward.

The following is a list of quest types and what kind of characters should be going on those quests.

Escort NPC to target

An NPC needs to be escorted to a location. The scroll will tell you where to find the NPC and where to take him to. The start and end room will not be in hostile territory, but it is possible that both rooms and the rooms you have cross contain dynamic NPC fighters who will attack you due to your moral alignment. These quests don't give much reward, and they are sutired for beginner to intermediate fighter characters

Kill Traitor / Protect Freedom Fighter

This is a quest for intermediate to high level fighters. The goal is, to kill a traitor to the King. However the location of the traitor is not known. The scroll will give you the name and location of a NPC who knows more. When you reach the NPC he will send you to another NPC when you say "<name> info" with his first or last name. There a few stops like that before you finally reach the traitor and each stop must be reached within a certain time or the quest is lost.

Whenever this quest is activated there is a counter quest Protect Freedom fighter automatically created in a random PC who is online at that moment. This PC receives a quest scroll in his inventory and, when activated, is given the goal to keep the same NPC alive you are trying to kill. He also is given a number of stops with NPCs who he has to ask in order to find the final NPC. If he arrives in the room before you, he can protect the NPC from you trying to kill him. Beware that between the two of you there is no assault crime generated if one KOes the other. Permakill murder crime still applies. If the NPC survives the time given for the quest, the PC with the counter quest wins. If the NPC is killed, the PC with the Kill Traitor quest wins.

It is not sure that the PC who receives the counter quest will go on that quest at all, so there is a good chance you will just arrive and kill the NPC without any PC protecting him, and even if he goes on this quest it is possible that he arrives too late.

Kill High Moral

This quest is given in the name of the Succubus Cult and it demands of you to kill a number of NPCs of high moral or to be more exact, to eliminate a number of high moral points. For this matter, the moral points of an NPC above 9 are taken into account, for example an NPC with 10 morality has 1 high moral point, an NPC with 11 morality has 2 and so on. The number of these high moral points killed must match or exceed the number given in the quest during the given time for you in order to solve the quest.

Kill Low Moral

This quest is given in the name of the Inquisition Cult and it demands of you to kill a number of NPCs of low moral or to be more exact, to eliminate a number of low moral points. For this matter, the moral points of an NPC below 9 are taken into account, for example an NPC with 8 morality has 1 low moral point, an NPC with 7 morality has 2 and so on. The number of these low moral points killed must match or exceed the number given in the quest during the given time for you in order to solve the quest.

Treasure Hunt

This is a hunt for a buried treasure. It works similar to the Traitor quest, just instead of NPCs there are a number of quest stones placed as explained above. You will have to double-click these stones to get the location of the next stone or the end. During the hunt you may get gifts from the stones. Be sure to get characters with the required theft or observation skill on your quest in order to be able to access the stones.

Sometimes the stones may even demand a sacrifice from you. This is usually one object that you have to sacrifice for them to give you the information about the next stone. If you have an object of the given type, it is removed from your inventory, if not, you can try to get one on time.

The treasure hunt comes in two varieties: those that lead through hostile territory and those that lead through friendly territory. The hostile ones usually give more reward.

Cure Zombie's Rott

This is a special quest that should be taken by characters with Zombie's Rott disease. At the end there is a sacred cross and touching it will cure the disease.

Belle du nuit

This quest requires you to make a number of XP as a dancer or lifeshow performer in a bar. If you make the requested XP within the given time, you will receive a reward.

Harvester

This quest requires you to make a number of XP as a harvester. If you make the requested XP within the given time, you will receive a reward.

Steal Items

This quests requires you to break into a house and steal certain items from the house. This quest has no reward other than the items you steal. The houses used for this quest are dynamically created houses and the owners are NPCs. Also there is no crime generated. However, the houses have a burglar alarm and you might start to flash and be hunted by NPC guards or PCs since the break is also reported through the gryphons

Special Reward

Often there are special sacred crosses at the end of a quest. The only one that is named in the quest name is the Cure Zombie's Rott because that is something outstanding and people with this disease might want to be able to buy such a scroll from a vendor.

All other sacred crosses can be given out by any quest. They include crosses that normalize a deformed body or give you extremely big genitals. In order to use such a cross you must double-click it while standing next to it. These crosses can be used a random number of times but usually not more than 2-3 times, so you might call in a friend to use the cross too, but there is no guarantee the cross will survive any number of usages.

There are also redemption crosses offered as reward sometimes. These crosses allow you to lower an urge by 10% on each quest. These quests are for characters who have let their urges climb to a level they don't feel comfortable with and they want to get rid of the high urges.

Suicide Death Marker

This is a special reward item that can be given out by all quests. It is a very rare reward item. It will be placed on the ground in the room where the quest is fulfilled, just like a special cross. It has the form of a red bone standard.

What it does is, to allow one quest member to commit suicide and die permanently according to his death settings on the login screen, either have his heir take over or go to hell. Only the first quest member touching this marker will be able to commit suicide, after that, the item disappears. Non quest members who double-click this item will not die and will not make it disappear.

BEWARE THAT THIS ITEM REALLY DOES KILL YOUR CHARACTER PERMANENTLY! THERE IS NO WAY OF GETTING YOUR CHARACTER BACK! IF YOU HAVE YOUR DEATH SETTINGS SET TO USE HEIR AND THERE IS NO HEIR, YOUR CHARACTER IS SIMPLY DELETED!

Increase Ability Permanently

There are 5 different rewards for Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Constitution and Charisma. Each type increases the respective ability by 0ne point, up to a maximum of 18 points. However you can chose only one ability for increase. Once you have increased an ability, you can not use other reward types to increase other abilities. You can only further increase this ability but no others. Chose your first Increase Cross wisely since that choice determines which ability you can increase further! If you make a mistake here, you are stuck with the ability you chose and can only increase that by fulfilling further quests. There is no way you can switch to another ability increase path!

List of Requested Sacrifices

As mentioned, a quest stone may demand a sacrifice from the character before it gives away more information. It is wise to carry a supply of all or some of the possible items a quest stone may demand before going on a quest. The following list contains common objects a quest stone may demand.

*Please not these are the most commonly asked items, however sometimes quest stones will ask for items not listed above, in which case you'll have to go looking for them.
