London & Districts

The city of London is divided into a number of districts with distinctive features. These features can change over time triggered by the acts of the characters who live in those districts. The features also have an influence on the lives of characters in the districts.

The city in Sociolotron is roughly modeled after the real city of London. If you take a real city map and compare it to the Sociolotron outline, you will find that the real districts are about where they are in Sociolotron and you will also recognize many of the streets and find them in the correct location. Due to the technical restrictions in Sociolotron, we can have only rectangular structures which is why the streets sometimes have to be simplified, but the general idea is to have London as original as it is possible with our limited resources. You will also find a fairly exact underground system that allows fast travel.

Every district has a number of government officials which are elected every month by the players. This is handled in a different section.

Each district has a morality value. This value is a direct consequence of the actions of the characters living in the district, but also from some characters that don't live there, mainly demons. The exact rank of a district on a ladder is not of much concern, it is mostly interesting whether it is in the upper half, meaning high morality, or in the the lower half, meaning low morality. You can see the exact rank of a district on the district overview webpage and you can tell whether it's a high or low morality district when you're in the district, from the [M+] for high or [M-] for low in the title bar of the client window when you're in the district. Some districts are always at high or low moral. They are set to these values to provide a base for succubus or inquisition characters to operate from a  safe haven, but all other districts are free to be changed by the player's actions.

There are several actions performed in a district that may lower a district's moral:

As you can see, one of the most important consequence is that there are dynamically created special fighters who attack members of the opposite moral alignment, therefore, once a district has had an alignment for a while and has attracted PC of the same morality for all its advantages, it will be hard for the inhabitance if the district changes it's alignment. Keep an eye out for demons sucking life, because they do by far the worst damage to a districts alignment.
