As pointed out in the social ranking system, an unmasked demon in London is not a very good thing for the summoner and for the characters socializing with him. However, things become worse for demons. A demon who is not in disguise, that means has not taken the shape of a living character while in London has a very high probability of spreading the Zombie's Rott disease to anybody in the same room with him except to his summoner. This makes unshaped demons a deadly danger to any living being. Characters will therefore either want to flee the demon or kill him.
However if a demon has taken the shape of a human (or monster) he does not spread the disease.
Demon's in London without disguise are also very strong fighters and can get rid of the strongest NPCs very easily. While they are in disguise they don't fight much better than a normal human. Sometimes demons are taken as travel companion to fight NPCs for the summoner. In this case it is a good idea to give up the disguise by destroying the shapeshift object so that the demon regains his full fighting strength.
Demons sometimes harvest in London. This allows them to harvest raw materials that are rare in their plane and it also allows them to make XP. While they are bound to their master (not free) they gain only a fraction of what they harvest and only a fraction of the normal XP and these gains are stored "in escrow" meaning the demon does not have access to the material or the XP before he returns to hell. If he is released ungracefully however or killed while in London, the raws and XP are destroyed. Only if he is released gracefully by his summoner or breaks free and returns to hell on his own power, can he keep these. A demon in London only earns 25% of the XP that would normally paid out for any action! Also a demon in London can not earn any hell Scores! If the master harvests while he has a summoned demon in London, be he free or bound, 10% of the harvest go to the demon into his escrow.
However, when a demon harvests in London, he pollutes the land. That means that no plants will grow for hours where he harvests. Since this is not necessarily in the interest of the people of London, the King's Scout report demons harvesting through the Gryphons. The population might want to go after the demon and send him back to hell.
When a demon is summoned to London, he is under the command of his summoner. There are a few regulations that govern this relationship. First of all, if the summoner attacks the demon, he is send straight back to hell and can keep his raws/XP. The demon on the other hand can not attack anybody unless the summoner has attacked that character first or the character has attacked the summoner or the demon first.
If the demon commits a crime in London, the summoner is held responsible for this. This is because a demon can not be prosecuted, therefore the summoner will become the criminal instead. The same is true, if the demon commits an action that makes him flash. The summoner will flash instead and can be attacked. Bound demons can not permakill any PC.
Bound demons are relatively restricted in what they can do.
A bound demon is returned to hell at server maintenance if the summoner has not logged in the past day or has been online less than one hour.
A demon has the chance to break free. This means that he is no longer bound to his summoner and most of the above restrictions don't apply anymore, except the fact that the summoner is still responsible for a demon's crimes. However the summoner does not start to flash instead of the demon any more. Demons can break free at the following occasions:
This makes summoning alone a dangerous task because there is a chance that the demon breaks free right away. Also, using the demon as a bodyguard is bad idea since there is a chance that he can break free during a fight. Finally it is much more safe to release a demon gracefully than ungracefully since that is one occasion less at which the demon could break free.
A free demon can stay in London as long as he wants or as long as he can sustain himself with soul points. Each day in London cost 10 souls, not to mention the souls he uses to refill his manna. If he runs out of souls, he is returned to hell at the next server restart. Free demons can use their stay in London to amass soul points to take back to hell or other goods.
Free demons can not permakill any PC.
Whenever a demon kills a PC in London, that PC receives a spiritual connection with the demon. the same is true for the summoner when a demon breaks free. What that means is, that the PC can sense the demon in London. While the demon is in London and both, demon and PC are online, the PC receives periodical messages telling him the room and district where the demon is. These messages come on the Rumors chat channel and can be turned off if desired. The more people the demon kills or feeds from, the more people will learn about the demons whereabouts and the harder it will be for him to stay in London.
There is only one way to discover a demon in disguise: You need to wear a magical amulet that reveals the demon's true form. These amulets are made by cultists and just standing next to a demon will reveal him after a few seconds. To do so, the character wearing this amulet must have level 4 in one of the two cult skills, other characters may wear the amulet but it will not work for them.
A demon can never permakill a PC in London. When a demon is being killed in London, he is immediately returned to hell and his death box returns to the demon's vault. Being killed is like being released ungracefully, all raw materials the demon has collected as well as the XPs he made in London are lost.
There is an additional bonus of 30 soul points if an inquisition demon kills a succubus demon in London in order to create tension between the two sorts of demons when summoned.
When a demon is summoned to London, all his soul points are put in escrow, leaving him with a maximum of 100 souls. He is also not able to consume soul exchange containers while in London. Therefore a demon will need to feed from the living. He does this by draining life force from PCs. No NPC will do for this purpose, it must be the real deal!
When feeding, the victim looses a number of his unused XP and he looses one full skill level! This makes a feeding demon a deadly enemy and the players should be on their watch! The good thing is, that each PC can be fed from only once by the same demon. A character who is fed from becomes spiritually connected with the demon and has the power to sense his whereabouts. The feeding process is different for a succubus and for an inquisition demon. First, a demon should check the possible number of souls he can gain from a character. He can do so by just looking at a character with a double click. The possible number of souls is shown at the end of the description. When this number is 0, an analysis is given why it is 0 and there are three possible reasons:
Succubus feeding happens with sex. The succubus must engage in sex with the PC, regardless of consensual sex, rape, prostitute job, seduction or whatever, as soon as the PC has an orgasm, the feeding takes place. Succubae have the advantage that their sex partners will always reach orgasm, due to the excessive amount of pheromones they emit. Once the partner reaches orgasm, the feeding takes place. A succubus gets a bonus in soul points if the male partner ejaculates in the mouth or uterus (* 2) or in the sphincter (* 1.5) regardless of who the male partner is. On the other hand, succubae can not cast spells for 5 minutes after they had an orgasm and during feeding they always come together with their partners. there is also a chance that the succubus sucks up all the sperm that is created if the partner is male and thus doubles his soul points.
These demons feed by sacrificing a PC on an inquisition altar. In order to do so, they can either lure the PC to an altar, or they can use the spell Create Inquisition Altar which creates a temporary altar that can immediately be used. The inquisition demon gains 20% more souls for every level in prostitution the victim has.
As soon as the feeding ends, the demon looses his disguise and shows his true form. He can not take on another disguise for 30 minutes which makes him very vulnerable. During this time, a spiritual connection message is send every minute which makes it hard for him to hide. He will have to run a lot, or stand and fight the characters pursuing him. If he is killed during these 30 minutes, not only does he return to hell but the victim gets everything back that was sucked from him, which means XP and the skill point. If the demon survives however, he receives the soul and the victim looses one skill point and will need to relearn that skill in the usual manner a skill level is purchased, by spending the necessary free xp and credits.
