Gangs are a means for players to organize themselves into groups to do things together. Groups have four distinct features that make them suitable for that purpose:
Every character can form a gang unless he is already a member of a gang. Each character can be member of only one gang, and when a character forms a gang, he automatically becomes a member and the leader.
To do any of the gang related actions you must be near a terminal and select it. This will bring up the Gang Tab. When you click it, the following dialog appears:

Some buttons are grayed out depending on your gang related status. Let's go through the leader features on the left side first.
This allows you to create a new gang. You will be asked to enter the full name of the gang, no more than 32 characters, and a 4 letter abbreviation that is shown after each member's name.

Then you have to make the choice whether your gang should worship a demon or not. If yes, make sure you know the demon's true name so that you can select the right one. This is not the ranking name like Lucifer, Wotan and so on, but the name that is shown in brackets in the Hell Daily Webpage. Beware that the demon might even loose this name if he is so weak that other demons manage to push him out of the list of ranking demons, but then you wouldn't want to worship such a weak demon anyway. You will continue to worship him even when he looses his true name.
You can change the name of a gang by clicking this button. This brings up the create dialog but with all fields grayed except the ones you need to change the gang's name.
This button dissolves your gang, destroys the money stored in it and releases all gang mambers
In order to add a new member to the gang, you must stand next to a terminal, have that member selected in your paperdoll view and then click Add To Gang.
This button brings up a new dialog that allows you to edit your members and also vote for a gangleader:

As the gang leader you can remove any character by selecting his name and click the Remove button. You can also add any character to your address book easily from here.
Gang members can pledge their loyalty here which is effectively like voting for a gang leader. Each week on Sundays a new gang leader is selected as the character that got the most votes from members here. You can change your loyalty any time and the current setting on Sundays is, what counts. The Gang Web Page shows the loyalty rate for the current leader. You don't need to have absolute majority, a relative majority that leaves you as the strongest character is enough to win.
This button allows you to manage the finances of your gang. It brings up the following dialog:

You can basically transfer money from your personal account into the gang and, as a gang leader, you can also withdraw money from the gang into your personal account. Just enter the amount to donate to the gang or withdraw from the gang in the edit field and then click the Send button.
As a gang member, you have only limited functions available. You use the same dialogs as above but the functions reserved for the leader are grayed out.
You can simply resign from your gang by clicking the Resign button. The Finances button brings up the Finance Dialog but you can only donate money, not withdraw. The Vote For Gangleader button brings up the Edit dialog but you can only Pledge Loyalty in this dialog. Finally the View Statistics button will show you various info about your gang like number of members, money reserve and so on.
A gang which worships a demon effectively sends soul points to the demon since demons can not generate soul points while in hell. Any member can do this provided he has the cult skill and the respective spell in his spell book. Details about worshipping are in the demons section.
