Spells

Once you have mastered at least level one of a skill you need a spell book to access all of the cult's features. when you double click a spell book, the following dialog comes up:

The list contains all the spells you have learned. You learn a spell by obtaining a scroll which is inscribed with it. You get those scrolls from NPCs who drop them when they die. Fighters will usually sell scrolls to cultists. Put them in your inventory, then drag and drop them on your spell book. If a spell is already in the book, you can not add it again. If you want to remove a spell from the book and put it back on a scroll you can do so by clicking Extract Selected Spell. Also, once you have 5 spells in your book, it becomes personalized and can not be used by anybody else. These books can not be stolen and are not dropped when you die. The will stay in your inventory unless you drop them or destroy them.

The spells are divided into several categories. These categories are:

Under the list there are two filter buttons to show those spells that can be used by Inquisition or Succubus cultists. Those that can be used by both cults are shown regardless of the selected filter. The other categories have no filter buttons and you are expected to know which spell you can use due to other conditions.

In order to cast a spell you must have enough manna. That is the spiritual energy inside of you. You can see the manna level in the skills window above the paperdoll. Manna increases over time but only if you have a manna potion in your bloodstream.

You can see which spells you can and can not cast by brackets around them. If your cult skill is not high enough for this spell, it is enclosed in square brackets [] if you don't have enough manna to cast the spell, it is enclosed in round brackets () and if there are no brackets at all, you can cast the spell.

To cast the spell, just double-click it. There are also two shortcut lists on the right side, one for the last spells used, one for the most spells used. Whether the spell worked or not is shown in form of a text message in the text window.

In order to cast those spells that are aligned with one of the two cults, the morality level that was necessary to learn the cult level which is necessary to cast the spell must be maintained or the spell can not be cast until the character reaches the respective morality level. Spells that can be cast by both cults are exempt from morality check
