Sociolotronics LLC was founded in 2005 by Patric Lagny in order to operate the online game Sociolotron SM. Patric Lagny has been a games programmer since 1993. His career began in Muelheim, Germany, where he worked for the well known German game developer and publisher Blue Byte (now Ubi Soft) on titles like Battle Isle, Battle Isle 2200 and The Settlers. Later he worked as Technical Director and Project Manager on the compilation of the top selling German board game The Starfarers Of Catan. Patric Lagny also worked as freelancer on various 3D projects. In 2001 he moved to Los Angeles where he worked for Eyematic developing avatar driven chat programs, 3D editors as well as the video conferencing system Ivisit.
In 2002 Patric started the development of Sociolotron SM as a one man project without any funding other than personal savings. Volunteers joined later to handle the community management and the in game activities, but the development is still a one man operation. However, over the past 3 years Sociolotron SM has involved into a multiplayer game with 100-200 simultaneous players online at peak times. Despite our restricted resources, we had several mentions in American and international print and online media due to the unique style and features of our game.
Sociolotron SM offers a unique set of features that caters to the mature player who focuses on role play without boundaries and who feels dissatisfied with the restrictions of major online games and the often childish player community. We have seen a steady growth in our player numbers even without any paid advertising. The press, message boards, blogs and links on various sites give us a great web presence and word of mouth from our players who bring friends over from other games is the best sign that we have a promising business model.
Sociolotronics LLC is committed to taking Sociolotron SM to the next step and out of the small games section of which we are undeniably a part due to our very small budget. We will invest as much of our revenues as possible into the further development of Sociolotron SM but we are also looking into the possibility of rising capital from other sources in order to grow faster.
